A Study on Cell Mediated Immune Responses in patients with Clonorchiasis

Abstract
In order to sutdy cellular immune responses in patients with chronic clonorchiasis, we examined CD3+, CD4+, CD8+, Leu7+ and leull+ cells in peripheral blood of 32 cases of clonorchiasis and 12 cases of adult healthy subjects as control.
The evaluation of delayed uctaneous hypersensitivity reactions and serum IgE levels were significantly increased in patients with clonorchiasis that control subjects.
The percentage of CD3+, CD4+ and CD8+ cells in peripheral blood showed no significant diffences between patients with clonorchiasis and control subjects.
The percentage of Leu7+ cell in peripheral blood showed significant increase in patients with clonorchiasis compared with controls, but that of Leu11+ cell showed no significant changes compared with control.
Numercal changes of T lymphocytes and NK cells were not observed, however functional alterations of T lymphcyters and NK cell smight be occured in the patients with clonorchiasis. So, it is necessary to study functional alterations of T cell and
NK
cell
activity for more detail in the study on cell mediated responses in the patients with chronic clonorchiasis.
Conclusively, even though there were not numer5ical changes of T lymphocytes in peripheral blood of chronic clonorchiasis, it is suggested that there were abnormal celluar immune responses in the patients with chronic clonorchiasis.
